You want to learn how to do research. You want to develop a research output to earn your degree after finishing your research subject requirements. Is it a typical scenario, isn't it?  


The word "research" in this book refers to academic research. 

Let me tell you this. The title of this book does not intend to mislead you. There is a chance, however, that this baits you to grab a copy of it. Perhaps, it fits and appeals to your needs. Who would not be drawn by this title? 

Maybe, academic research turned out to be one of your most tremendous burdens in life at present. You do not enjoy much of it. You need a companion to help you through the rigorous process of doing research. 

Many find it challenging to perform academic research. There are many reasons to this challenge. Down to their lack of reading training, doing research has become a not-so-appetizing task for many. Only a few dared to expose themselves to excellent, quality books and research articles from any reputable research journals. 

Let us go back to its root, your basic education program. The foundation to set love for reading and learning should have started in years of many education training. I am not saying that it is entirely too late for you now. Do not think the other way. I am trying to establish that you might find this book boring if you hate the idea of spending time reading.

I intentionally made this book for you to read. Finding material like this is a primary requirement in doing academic research. 

Let me be honest with you. Reading is a primary requirement of an intellectual endeavor. 

For instance, research is a cerebral activity that requires you to read, read, and read. The rest of the conditions follow, such as comprehension, analysis, evaluation, and synthesis. Academic research involves your activities of comprehending, analyzing, evaluating, and synthesizing published studies. That is what makes it known as "research." This intellectual engagement intends you to develop or perform higher-order thinking skills. Such skills are part of the requirements to do the rigor associated with the entire academic research process. 

Reading does not need to have a limitation. Academic research is more than writing. Plain and simple as that. 

Having said what I want to say primarily, I initially have answered you on how to make academic research easier. Placing it in academic research, the love for reading can lead you further to a specific advantage. Just as you expect that this book's title should purport, there is a solution to doing academic research to ensure your remarkable progress. It is reading. Everything should smoothly follow from here, after that. That puts you truly at an advantage. Trust me.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Dr. Arthelo P. Palma earned his B.S. in Applied Mathematics (Operations Research) from the University of the Philippines, MBA from the University of Southeastern Philippines, and Ph.D. in Development Research and Administration (Dean's Citation) from the same university. He is an Associate Member of the National Research Council of the Philippines, an International Peer Reviewer, and a Licensed Professional TeacherDr. Palma has served as Research Director, Academic Head, Professorial Lecturer, and currently as the Research and Community Extension Head. He has been teaching research and data analysis for more than a decade.
